//THE WARDROBE PROJECT//

  • Hello??...is anybody here? If there is still someone out there, hello and happy new year(yes, I know that January is almost over!), but you know, work and life get in the way and things don't always go as planned. When the new year came around I thought a lot about resolutions and lists. I didn't want to make a list of resolutions, just for the sake of it, that I already knew I wouldn't stick to past the first month. I wanted to think a lot about what I wanted this new year to be about. So I dedicated this month to thinking what I'd like to achieve the coming 11 months. And since this is the space to share my creative and sewing thoughts, I'm here to share my #makenine2017 list with you.

I'm sure that a lot will change throughout the year, but these are some of the things I would like to make in 2017.

For me, 2017 is all about comfort and effortless casual chic. One of my goals for this year is to start sewing my own lingerie. The Boylston Bra by Orange Lingerie has been in my list forever and I think it is time to tackle it. A little while ago, I discovered Evie la Luve's shop and I fell in love with her lingerie designs, I bought the Esme panties over the Thanksgiving sales and I can't wait to make it! As well as undergarments, I'd love to up my loungewear game. I believe the Ultimate Pyjamas pattern by Sew Over It would be a perfect starting point.

I don't think I have to say a lot about the Toaster Sweater by Sew House Seven. I believe it is in everyone's to-sew list by now and of course it couldn't miss from mine. Another beautiful pattern that caught my eye is the Blaire shirt & dress by Style Arc. I've seen some beautiful versions of this and I can't wait to make my own. I would also like to tackle a more demanding pattern this year and the Kelly Anorak by Closet Case Patterns is the way to go I think. And of course we can't talk about comfort, without including a relaxed t-shirt pattern. The new Seamwork Jane pattern is the ultimate classic t-shirt that everyone has to have in their wardrobe. Coming spring I know I would love to have a light duster coat, like the Londres trench Coat & Jacket by Orageuse Patterns and last, but not least, I'd love to make a long shirtdress, like the Hermes by I Am Patterns.

So, what do you think? Do you have a #makenine list for 2017? I'd love to hear about it!

....let's go to the beach, each, let's go get away....Oh hello there! With all the high temperatures we are experiencing recently I can't help but think all about sunny beaches, vacations and of course beachwear! Caftans, linen shirtdresses and off-the-shoulder dresses are only some of the endless possibilities!

So, what's your beachwear attire this summer? ☀

Recently I used the Konmari method to declutter and tidy my house and wardrobe. Ever since, I started thinking a lot about my wardrobe and my sewing. At times, my sewing can be all over the place - splurges of the moment on fabrics I don't really need, the excitement of a new pattern release that isn't my style 100%, but look cute on the model and it goes on. I want to sew more consciously and add pieces in my wardrobe I know I'm going to love and get a lot of wear out of.

I'm starting by planning my spring wardrobe more thoroughly and with longevity in mind. I know the main hole is my outerwear. My spring outerwear game currently consists of one pleather jacket, one denim jacket and some cardigans. I'm planning to add these types of outerwear:

    THE BOMBER JACKET

    THE BOYFRIEND BLAZER

    THE BIKER JACKET

I'm planning on using some indie patterns I have and draft my own patterns to make them. If you have any pattern suggestion please let me know!

So, how about you? Any spring wardrobe plans?

I love how comfortable ,and easy to wear, track pants are and ,if combined right, how stylish they can look. I'm a big fan of comfort, especially when I'm dressing for work, but I always like to look put together. I think track pants can really achieve both!

Here is some inspiration from the most popular track pants sewing patterns out there, the Anima pants pattern from Papercut patterns and the Hudson pants pattern from True Bias:

There is just something in the simplicity of a plain tee that makes an outfit seem so chic. I think the trick is in the fabric. It has to be the softest, drapey jersey for it to be the perfect tee. Paired with skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans, maxi skirts, midi skirts, mini skirt, you name it! A must-have basic in my opinion.

I'm currently in the process of planning my fall wardrobe and plain tees are definitely in my plans. For patterns, I'm thinking Briar, Plantain and maybe SJ Tee?
What do you think of the plain tee? Do you have any pattern recommendation?

I'm not really a huge friend of winter...I hate to have to wrap myself with all these layers to stay warm! I'm more of a spring kind of girl. When light clothes and a cardigan or an open button down shirt and a tee get the job done. But because winter is a necessary evil, coats are a must. I really love the boyfriend style coats. I feel that they make every outfit appear really stylish!

I don't know if it's because of all the holiday eating or something to do with being winter outside and the need to be cozy, but lately I found myself drawn to leggings. I wasn't really a friend of leggings, but I recently discovered how comfy and easy to wear they are. And lately all I can think about is velvet leggings!

How do you feel about leggings?

Hello everyone! So is it just me or do you too feel like Christmas morning every time one of the amazing independent pattern designers out there release a new pattern? So many new awesome releases happening currently and I'm feeling more inspired than ever. I thought of sharing some of my favorites here for you to see and hopefully you'll be as inspired by them as I am.

So first of all, I'm sure you all know by now the amazing Papercut patterns. I think this is one of my favorite pattern companies currently. I love their designs and how modern they are. And I think they suit my style perfectly. Recently they released their newest collection,"Constellation". I love every single pattern in this collection, but the ones that stole my heart away were the Rigel Bomber and the Saiph Tunic. I'm searching for a bomber pattern for ever now, so when I saw the Rigel I was beyond happy. You should check out Sophie's amazing version of the Rigel Bomber! For me the Saiph tunic is the perfect easy, comfortable winter go-to garment paired with leggings or skinny jeans.

Another amazing release is from Colette patterns, their newest collection Walden. It is originally a specialty line of men's patterns, but really I think the patterns are unisex. It consists of three patterns, the Albion duffle style coat, the Cooper bag and the already existing Negroni shirt. Albion and Cooper was just love at first sight for me. I love the classic style of the Albion and everyone knows that I am a sucker for a nice backpack. But the Cooper pattern is not just a backpack, it's actually a pattern with 3 alterations for 3 different types of bags, a messenger bag, a backpack and a satchel.

You already know the ByHandLondon girls and their lovely patterns. They just released another awesome pattern, the Georgia dress. It has fitted cups, a panelled skirt and two variations for the straps, one with slinky shoulder straps and one with a wider, nautical style faux collar. The perfect holiday dress or what?

And of course you all are familiar with Grainline studio. Everytime Jen releases a new pattern my excitement can't be described. Perfect, wearable patterns with very nice instructions. This time she released a different pattern, the Portside Travel Set. A travel set that consists of a duffle bag, a travel pouch perfect for smaller objects and a roomy dopp kit. Perfect for weekend getaways and short trips.

So these are some of my current favorites patterns! Do you guys like them? Have you already made any of these?
